Julie Butler

Co-opted Governor

Prior to the rocky road of parenthood my background was in the care and housing industry where I worked with the elderly. During my 20 years at work I gained a lot of experience in dealing with people, ensuring the delivery of high levels of care, managing teams of staff, confidentiality, safeguarding, health and safety and property management. I have no school governing experience but feel that with my work background and my knowledge of being a parent of a child with complex needs, I have some skills to offer. I love to work as part of a team, and I am not afraid to challenge, and relish the opportunity to learn and expand my horizons. I have also done voluntary work.

As a family we enjoy exploring in the countryside, gardening and bike riding. Our son is very keen on trains so we spend many hours on the train exploring London along with other towns and parks and zoo’s. We also swim a lot and are Costa Coffee and IKEA’s most frequent visitors!

My son attended Booker Park from early years through to year 6 and he is now at Stocklake Park. During his journey I have always been keen to support the school and have also learnt a lot, I have encountered many barriers and I have gained a good understanding of the SEND system. As a parent I see real value in collaboration, open communication, transparency and I am committed to being a positive contributor to the governing board. I am passionate about ensuring that all children and staff have access to the appropriate levels of support within school, and that both schools are equipped with the tools they need in order to deliver a supportive enriching environment where the children can thrive and maximise their full potential.
